To optimize efficiency, any entity that deals with vast amounts of information and records must eventually find better ways of managing, storing, accessing, and transferring that data. Many health care providers and health plans are shifting from paper to electronic records, due to lower cost and the increased functionality provided by having information in electronic form.
These changes will be accelerated by the administrative simplification implemented by the regulations promulgated under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 ("HIPAA").
For these reasons, Advanced Ortho specializes in providing orthodontic systems that make paperless operations possible.
Paperless operation is an area in which Advanced Ortho's CEO is a recognized authority. In fact, in the early 1990's he created the term
'Paperless Practice' that is now commonly used in the industry. Charles has
numerous
published articles on paperless operation.1
A cover story in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, co-authored by two prominent orthodontists, also discussed one of his past company's achievements in paperless operation while he was CEO.2
A December 2003 article in the
Orthodontic Cyberjournal
titled 'The
Road to Paperless Nirvana' by Hugh R. Phillis, DMD discusses both
paperless operation and Internet Program Delivery and is worth a read.
